Sydney, Australia: Same city, paths never crossed, until...

Match #: 21&22

Even though they were living in the same city, with only a few suburbs separating them, and even though the Torah-observant community in Sydney, Australia, is relatively small, if it would not have been for JWed.com it is possible that they may never have met. After all, they are six years apart, each socialized in entirely different circles, and each had differing outlooks on life.
Bensi had been living and working in Melbourne for two and a half years, during which time he'd been on a large number of shidduchim. Following his return to Sydney in early 2002, he took a few months off to rest and relax. Whilst he had posted his profile on JWed.com some months before, it was not until this time that he decided to actively search through the profiles of the women on the site and to email those that looked promising.
Out of all the women that he emailed, he struck up an online conversation with Ruth, who charmed him with her enigmatic descriptions of herself, her challenging responses to his intellectual ponderings, and her warmth and devotion to her Yiddishkeit.
On her part, Ruth had placed her profile on JWed.com mostly for fun!
After all, she hadn't yet seriously entertained the thought of meeting and marrying anyone... at least not for a year or two.
Given that she was in the middle of her university degree and intended to make aliyah as soon as she completed it, JWed.com was merely a fun distraction for her. This of course changed when she met Bensi. After emailing each other for a few weeks, speaking on the phone, and then meeting up in person, Hashem's plans began to unfold... Only four months later they were engaged, and today they are happily married, with their first child on the way.
