We recognize the Hashgacha Pratis in our story

Match #: 993&994

Joel:  I am not a very religious Jew but I joined JWed in hopes of finding a nice woman. I emailed a few people but nothing worked out. Then I saw this one good-looking girl about an hour from where I lived.  I was living in Pittsburgh during this time and it was January 2006. I emailed her and we went out a few weeks later. Our second date was Super Bowl XL.  Although I am not a Steelers fan, I thought that it would be a good date.  We went to Dave and Busters to watch the game. The next week I took her to visit my friend’s baby who was in the hospital, as I thought it would make me look sensitive. From then we dated more and more and eventually we fell in love.

We decided to get married in April of 2006, but did not make it public until a month later. In April of 2006, I graduated nursing school and left for bigger and better things in the great City of Dallas. I found a great job, which has turned into a promising career. My wife stayed in her hometown until November of 2006 getting ready for the wedding, which was on November 12, 2006 in Pittsburgh. I am happily married to the prettiest, smartest, amazing women in the world.

Mindy: I had my profile on JWed on and off for a while.  I updated my profile often and each time I would change my level of observance.  I think I am the only person in the history of JWed to say that I identified with each and every observance level at one time.  I was never a paying member so I had difficulty communicating with people.  I finally decided to get serious about looking for the right person to marry.

I was debating whether or not to become a full paying member of JWed so I could get the benefits of being able to communicate with all members.  One night I was browsing JWed and I found Joel who lived about an hour from me.  I immediately was attracted to his picture and his profile.  We shared some things in common namely that we both had connections and positive experiences with Chabad.  I showed my mother his picture and profile and she too agreed that I should become a full member of JWed in order to communicate with Joel.

I kept looking at his profile but was too shy to be the first one to contact him.  Thank G-D that he was able to see who was viewing his profile.  He saw I was looking at him so he decided to email me.  I still remember the first thing he said to me.  On my profile I had a picture of me and my baby nephew.  He said, “Cute baby!  What’s his name?”  From this comment I thought, “This guy must love children as much as I do!”  After all, the first thing he noticed and commented on was my beloved nephew.

We communicated via email and phone for a few weeks.  Before our first date I was sure to check out Joel’s background with people we both knew from his community.  Our first date was at Starbucks in the mall.  For several weeks after that we met every Sunday and went on fun filled dates.  Our relationship began to get more intense and in May of 06 we were engaged.  This was four months after we met each other.  We were married on November 12, 2006.

We recognize the Hashgacha Pratis in our story as our paths could have crossed without us ever knowing the other one existed.  We both attended the same campus Chabad house on many occasions around the same time period.  In addition prior to my membership with JWed I had my profile posted on Jdate.  Joel tells me that several years earlier he remembers seeing my picture and trying to contact me.  However I never answered him.  The reason for this was because I did not have a full membership with Jdate so I could not reply to him.  Thank G-D for JWed! Everyday I say to myself that we are perfect for each other.  We balance each other out in many ways.  I feel so lucky to be married to my husband.
