Never Judge a Book by it's Cover

Match #: 971&972

I was on JWed for about four mouthes, but never thought I would really find someone here.   I was logged in one night and saw that I got a message from Yosef- it said “we both have a lot in common --good looks,  like to have a good time, etc- why don’t we give it a change.

I looked at Yosef's profile -he didn’t have the greatest picture up and it didn’t really say too much about him. I wrote back and said. "I am looking for someone older and more mature. Good luck in finding your match. "

Yosef was very persistent- He kept emailing me. We went back and forth for about 2 mounths and I started to really enjoy Yosef's emails. One day while emailing Yosef I saw we had communicated over 50 times! I asked Yosef if he had IM. We spoke on Im, then later on the phone. We spoke for about an hour and about a week later we went out on our first date. Yosef was really good looking (not like his picture on JWed!) .

Yosef and I had a really good connection which I didn’t see at first. The next few dates Yosef and I really got to know each other - we would spend hours talking. Unfortunately  I felt something was lacking -- after a month of dating intensively Yosef and I broke up.

About a month after the breakup my friend and I were hanging out and she was talking about a guy she wanted to contact but she was afraid. I told my friend “if you don’t contact him you are going to regret it for the rest of your life. At that moment I realized how much I missed Yosef and If I wouldn't contact him I would not be able to live with myself and I realize what a mistake I made and one of the reasons  I broke up with Yosef was because I was afraid of the real thing.

That night I could sleep.  All I did was think about how much I hurt Yosef  --all wanted to do was contact him. So I texted Yosef on my phone "I am going to be in Flatbush tomorrow do you want to talk?". We set up a time.

The following day Yosef and I finally met again When I saw Yosef it felt very good I realized how much I missed him and how much we connected.  We dated for another two months and Yosef proposed to me on Lagbomer.

What I learned from this experience and I hope others could learn from it is “never judge a book by its cover” and if you have any regrets don’t don’t let your pride get  in the way --contact the  person! I would like to thank JWed for helping us get together.

Our wedding was August 13th 2007
