Though in the same city, they might never have met...

Match #: 825&826

Rivka grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and Mati grew up in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia .
Though in the same city, without JWed they might never have met..
Rivka had been on JWed since Sukkot. Mati had joined only days before first messaging Rivka in early December. He was very impressed by her adorable picture and her creative and detailed profile.
Rivka's first response was not overwhelmingly positive. Aside from being busy with final exams in an accelerated nursing program, she was turned off by Mati's "Yeshivish Black Hat" outlook, although she did like his super- cute picture. Mati, however, was too proud not to stand up to Rivka's objections. He explained his background in Chabad yeshiva and philosophy, and managed to impress Rivka and excite her concerning the prospects of a shidduch. Convinced of the possibilty, Rivka said "I'll contact you when my pile of schoolwork shrinks" To which Mati replied "Alright, I'll wait for you. Good luck with finals!"
Rivka, upon finishing her exams, and arriving home in Philadelphia for her winter break, excitedly contacted Mati. After checking his references and e-mailing and speaking on the phone for several days, they planned a first date in Northeast Philadelphia . After going out for a bite at the local Espresso Cafe, they drove around in Rivka's menorah car in order to publicize the Chanukkah miracle. The date ended off with a game of chess which Rivka believes Mati let her win.
After the first date, they spent much time on the phone, and more dates followed, approximately one per week. Mati drove to Baltimore regularly from Allentown so they could spend time together. They went to the Inner Harbor , played checkers at Starbucks, and colored with crayons at the Crayola Factory. After a couple of months, they realized that they wanted to spend their lives together. So Mati obtained permission from Rivka's parents, answering her mother's pointed questions with smoothness and ease. Rivka also met Mati's family and became acquainted witht the Allentown community. Soon they were engaged, and everybody was very excited. After visiting the Lubavitcher Rebbe's Ohel in Brooklyn and having a small L'chaim there, Rivka and Mati had a large L'chaim with all of their family and friends in Northeast Philly the following week. And now they are very excited to be married after Rivka's graduation from nursing school this summer! Thank you JWed! We couldn't have done it without you! Todah Rabbah,

Rivka and Mati recently became engaged.
