I had earlier not contacted Tamara given the distance!

Match #: 459&460

I'm an American who made Aliya 15 years ago from New York. I had been on JWed and other sites for about 2 years, and had been out with many girls!
When I came across Tamara's profile, I was immediately taken by it!
She was so beautiful, and her smile captured me right away. The most important thing to me in a girl was "Simchat Chayim" - a happy person. She just looked like the sweetest girl ever. It seemed like we both had a lot in common. We both love kids, to cook, close with our families.  Although she wrote that she would consider aliya, she was still all the way in Chicago . I thought to myself "why add obstacles to a situation that's hard enough as it is?"
I decided not to contact her. I was so upset because it is so hard to find someone you think you really match with and when you do they are all the way across the world.

When Tamara saw that I looked at her profile she checked me out. She really loved what she saw and since I wrote that I was willing to relocate she decided to write to me. She thought that willing to relocate meant to America too. Little did she know that I meant

Israel!
I was excited to see that she wrote to me but was concerned about the distance. After writing to eachother for about a week I decided to ask her for her number. She was very hesitant in the begining, as she had had some bad experience with online dating and was a bit concerned. After driving her crazy and assuring her I was not an ax murderer, she decided to give me her number!
We clicked right away. I told her that although this might be a bit premature, if this was to work out - I would still not be willing to live outside Israel! She told me that if i was her "Bashert" she will live anywhere in the world with me!
We started talking around Pessach time. I was coming in to New York for the summer anyway.I told her that if we're still talking by the summer then we can meet then. After about a month of us talking and us really starting to like eachother we decided not to wait for the summer and that she will fly in to Israel to see me. Tamara came in for 10 days in June.
We hit it off  right away. She was Beautiful, smart, funny, sweet, caring and had a great laugh. She already knew she wanted to marry me before she even came but just wanted to make sure I was the same person she was talking to on the phone. When she left I was pretty sure alread y that she was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I just wanted to see how I felt when she left and if I would really miss her. Sure enough I really did! I couldn't wait to see her smile again and spend more time with her!
I shopped for a ring in Israel without her knowing. When  I got to New York she flew into see me from Chicago . I had downplayed what I felt for her the month that we were apart. I wanted to achieve the ultimate surprise and shock when I proposed. I had told her that I liked her a lot but wanted to meet her family first and spend more time with her. When I picked her up from the airport in NY we drove to a nice park in Woodmere and there on a bridge over-looking a beautiful little pond, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me!
She was so shocked! - mission acomplished.
We will Marry IY"H  in Israel in the fall. I would like to thank JWed for helping me find the woman of my dreams. To all those people out there with concerns about online dating, I must say that to find love you have to take a chance. 99% of the girls i've gone out with I would have never met them if I didn't meet them online. It really works. You need to put yourself out there and Hashem does the rest!

Tamara and Ilan, JWed Couple #230, are engaged to be married in Eretz Yisrael this Fall.
