An opportunity almost lost....

Match #: 407&408

In His Words
I heard about internet dating at work so I decided to give Fumster a shot.
I had been on a recent number of dates - that were not great. When I put my profile up I had a lot of responses. There was a lot of chit chatting but nothing came about. I went out with somebody on JWed but it wasn’t for me.
Then I got a message from superwoman on January 10th, I really liked her profile, and I really loved the name!
We started emailing for a while, but then I had to travel to South Africa for a wedding and she went to Spain on vacation. I didn’t hear from her for several days so I figured she wasn’t interested. However she wasn’t able to get to a computer and she was running all over Spain.
When we both got back to America she emailed me that she was interested in talking. I gave her my phone number but she being the traditional one, wanted me to call her. I called her and we had a great conversation. Since I loved shmoozing I didn’t ask her out. Then I called again and we talked for a while. This time, I asked her out.
Our first date was March 6th. We went to Central Park and had a great time. The hours flew bye and I couldn’t believe how well the date was. When I dropped her off, I asked her on the spot if she wanted to go out. This was very uncharacteristic of me because usually I don’t ask to go out on the first date. She said yes and I was very happy. We spoke for a while and we found out that we almost had a meal together on the West side, but that at the last moment I had decided not to go to the meal. When my roommate came home from the meal he told about this cute girl that was there. Anyways back to the story...
I was having a great time with her and then she bought up the C word; Commitment. I got to say I didn’t think the months would fly by so fast so after 5 months we decided to break up because I was not ready for marriage. I kept on telling her I needed more time (She will tell you her side of the story). But that was the biggest mistake of my life. I missed her terribly but she said that we should not have any contact. I wanted to call her all the time, often about the most mundane things - but I couldn’t.
Then out of the blue she called me I was really happy to hear her voice. I knew that we were back on track to getting back together. I went on several dates; all one timers and on every date I wished that she was across the table from me. I called her before Rosh hashonah and when her grandmother passed away. I used every excuse to call her. I was going to call her to tell her to give it another shot but she beat me to the punch. She used some clichés that she will tell you on ‘her’ side. Anyways, we went out again November 13th and B’H she took me back and this time I didn’t lose her and we got engaged on January 24th.
Our Story
On May 9th we got married. We thank JWed for bringing us together. Looking back we realized that there were many times we could have gone on a date. (My aunt and her aunt are good friends and had been setting us up for years just not together). We feel that only JWed could have brought us together. We have learned from our experiences not to have any preconceive notions and give people a chance. Yasher Koach to JWed and May you be Zoche to make many more shidduchs.

Aviva and Shlomie, JWed Match #204, were married 9 May 2005, 30 Nisan 5765.
