Andrew had 10 JWed dates. I had one - him!

Match #: 179&180

Andrew was well acquainted with the Internet dating scene. I, on the other hand – mostly utilized Shadchanim and I was signed up with quite a few!
A friend of mine came over and asked to use my computer to check her JWed messages. At the time I did not think too highly of internet dating. However, my inquisitiveness soon overshadowed my ego and after observing her sort through all her messages from men - I signed up as soon as she left!
Andrew had already been signed up for about two years when he wrote a message to me. He had seen my profile and on noting similarities had decided to write. The message read "I liked your profile. Take a look at mine and write back if you think there is potential".
At the time of his writing, I was actually about to go on a shidduch! As result, without replying I temporarily-suspended my membership and went on the date. Needless to say the shidduch was not for me, I reactivated my membership and immediately wrote to Andre informing him of the reasons for the delay in my reply!
Thus our courtship started!
His first message to me was written on the 4th December 2003 – and on the 31st December he asked me out on a date. While Andrew had already been on about 10 dates just from JWed, Andrew turned out to be my one and only date from the site!
Our first date was on the night of the 10th Tevet. I started off by saying "feel free to get a word in edgeways!" He was neither phased nor intimidated by me or the rapidity of my speech! I later learned that his immediate attraction to me was in fact my ease at listening to others and my blue greenish eyes!
Andrew demonstrated he could handle me, calm me down and bring out my positive middot! He felt things looked inevitable after 6-8 weeks – when I asked him if we could become exclusive (boyfriend and girlfriend in a Shomrei Negiah way).
Things moved along well and Purim approached us. It was the was first day Purim and we had gone to friends of mine for Purim Sueda. We just seemed so connected and everyone informing us that we even looked alike! We had a wonderful meal and on speaking to my brother during the meal, it seemed more and more obvious that Andrew was my bashert!
I told my brother that I thought we would wait till Pesach so he could meet my family and could then get engaged. Of course the person I forgot to tell this plan to was Andrew!
One morning, I began driving him back to work on Begin towards Har Chotzvim. As we came round a corner there is a spectacular view of the Jerusalem hills and surrounding neighbourhoods cascading down. Andrew lifted his eyes and said to me, "You know how you wanted to make it more official to boyfriend and girlfriend?" (I answered yes suspiciously) "well how do you feel about making it more official to fiancé"?
I did not crash the car.
My smile was his answer even though I was screaming "are you asking me to marry you in the car?" I could not believe his choice of time and place! As I began arriving at his place of work, he told me that he had a present for me. I managed to safely park outside his work (!) and he presented this red rose box and in a diamond ring with a heart outline in white gold.! I looked at it in absolute shock and my smile did even more talking than I did! I said “yes!” and he said "I have to go work I will leave you to get over the shock". I safely made it home and we are now looking forward to the wedding and the rest of our lives together!
Our advice is make a concerted effort. Make JWed work for you. Don’t simply list your profile – keep trying and working on it! Finding the right person takes time, but bezrat Hashem, you will get there. My addition to Andrew's words are you never know when or from where your beshert is going to come..but IY"H it may be right around the corner!. Thank You JWed!

Andrew and Erika's scheduled wedding date is 15 Tammuz 5764 / July 4 2004 in Jerusalem!
