From Brooklyn to Germany·and back!

Chavi (26) from Germany & Luzi (32) from Brooklyn, NY

Match #: 159&160

I can't remember how I came across the JWed site (it might have been through an internet search for dating sites). Every once and a while I would look through the profiles of girls with a similar level of frumkite.
On around mid July 2003 I came across Chavi's profile. She did not have a picture, and she was from Germany. I thought long and hard. I was immediately struck by her wonderful profile, but was hesitant given the geographical divide - after all I was in New York City, and she was from Hamburg, Germany. I gave it less then 20% that it would work out!
I sent a message to Chavi thinking that she would probably not reply at all or she would and merely state that distance was too big a factor! A few days later I looked on the site again and I had a massage from her. I was amazed! She just wanted to know more a little bit of myself. I quickly began to understand that the long distance factor was simply not as big a factor as I had presumed! We communicated extensively exchanging life stories, basic interests, backgrounds, and personal habits. After 2 weeks I asked if she would mine proving me with her phone number in Germany so that we could talk directly. She gladly obliged! Well we started talking on the phone every day. They were long, meaningful conversations and I began to feel that we shared similar opinions on almost all major issues. We understood each other, we had chemistry and I liked talking to one another.
Mid October I flew down to meet her in Hamburg, Germany. Well, I met a very attractive, sophisticated, classy, mature, beautiful girl. We immediately liked what we saw in each other! I was there for a few days and when I flew back to NYC the phone conversations became more long and deeper. I decided to fly to Germany for a second visit four weeks later for a few days. We had a real great time!I met with her parents, friends and family. I liked what I saw, I felt in my heart that this is it. I loved her!
I invited her to come to NYC for Chanukah to meet my family. She came to NYC, she liked my family and friends and on that point I decided to make that move. I took her out on the last day on Chanukah. It was sunset night in Central Park. We took a ride on the wagon with a horse. I proposed to her and·.. well here I am so you know she said yes!!!
What we liked about the site was that it gave us the freedom to meet someone on out terms (not a shadchan's, who doesn't always care too much about the people she is setting up, just making a shidduch). Additionally, what attracted me to JWed were the details in the profile- and it shows that even a long distance shidduch can happen on JWed! We feel very grateful to JWed. Tizcu l'mitzvot and hatzlacha in all that you do.
